Over the last 8 weeks I’ve been making notes on why people are arcing up against the political class. I thought it might have been just me but it seems not. It’s very much the universal Trump Middle America and most recently Brexit phenomenon sweeping the Western hemisphere

I’m sure you can add to the list but in summary, it goes like this.

People are jaded, jaundiced, tired and ticked off with the elite establishment political class.

They’re sick of big politics and sick of being ignored.

They’re sick of the rolling ruck and maul that passes for politics in Australia in 2016.

They’re are sick of Turnbull. They’re sick of Rudd, Gillard, Rudd, Abbott, Turnbull, and the various shades of beige and flavours of vanilla available at the polls this Saturday.
Did I mention that they’re sick of Turnbull?

They’re sick of the dithering, confusion, division and drift in political life.

They’re sick of the recalcitrant senate holding things up because Abbott did Labor over in 2013 and just because they can and I suspect because of the quota required at a double dissolution, it’s about to get a whole lot worse.

They’re sick of political correctness and associated group think and being lectured to and told what to think about everything from gay marriage to climate change.

They’re sick of being told what’s good for them and how we must respect all cultures and that all cultures are equal. They’re not. And if you think they are you need to get out more and pay attention to what’s going on out there in the broader world..

They’re sick of society being carved up into voting blocks of religion, culture, gender and ethnicity and others not yet dreamed up.

They’re sick of being insulted by the justice system and told that every social misfit and criminal whack job has rights and they’re sick of everyone trying to run the pathetic addiction or mental illness defence.

They’re sick of the sneering and condescending, finger wagging, politically correct, minority tail wagging the majority dog.

They’re sick of people like Gillian Triggs strutting her smug, supercilious high-minded moral vanity.

They’re sick of the hypocrisy, preening and moral grandstanding of the Greens.

They’re sick of every politically incorrect thought real or imagined being be treated as an “.. ism..”

They’re sick of PC language cops like David Morrison badgering, lecturing and hectoring about using words like “guys”.
As recently as late last week, teachers at leading girls schools in the UK were being told not to refer to pupils as girls or young women for fear it may offend. So where does this go? Do we change all the names of girl’s schools?

They’re sick of education gender bending programs like Safe Schools and Respectful Relationships being presented as something other than what they really are, being outsourced to hard line Marxists from Latrobe University and made a compulsory part of the curriculum.

They’re sick of the thumb sucking, sooking and infantilisation of young people who can’t cope with being an adult with their weepy emoting and triggers warnings as they withdraw to their safe spaces with their stuffed fluffy toys.

What we’ve seen played out in the US with Trump or in the UK with Brexit and I suspect what we’ll see played out at the ballot box on Saturday is the people, what Menzies called “the forgotten people”, lashing out and striking back against the elites and big politics.

They’re not just sick of it and had a total gutful, they’re as mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.
