Whether it’s the appalling wrong call over our submarine acquisition and the cost, the diesel technology, the lag time and their obsoletion by the delivery date or our failure to build dams, coal fired power or nuclear stations, the root cause is the same.

At some point over the last thirty years, mediocrity became the byword for many of those preselected to represent Liberal and Labor in Canberra and our state capitals, as a particular type of risk averse politician, who see politics as a career rather than a calling.

They have infected and coursed through the national political bloodstream and spend their day hiding out and hoping not to be found out or exposed for their total lack of vision, imagination, guts, will and determination.

Their abject failure with a propensity to make either the wrong decision (submarines) or no decision (dams and coal fired or nuclear power stations) is again proof positive that with the exception of a few good men and women, just how badly the Australian people have been served by the most unimpressive political class of empty suits and hollow men and women in a generation.

Let’s face it, the Liberals are only in government because  the alternative would be worse, so perhaps the resignation of Craig Kelly is the wake up call and the boot up the bracket they need.

At some point over the last thirty years, mediocrity became the byword for many of those preselected to represent the Liberals at both federal and state levels, with the elevation of a particular type of risk averse politician, who see politics as a career rather than a calling.

Just look at the pathetic quality of Liberal Party leadership in Qld, WA and Victoria in recent years. Woeful doesn’t begin to describe it. The Federal Liberals abject failure, with a propensity to make either the wrong decision (submarines) or no decision (dams and coal fired or nuclear power stations and strategic fuel reserves) is again proof positive that with the exception of a few good men and women, just how badly the Australian people have been served by the most unimpressive political class of empty suits and hollow men and women in a generation.
