If Australia is going to go down the path of honesty, truth telling, treaties and transparency with respect of the indigenous voice to parliament, it’s not a good look and first step to suggest we should buy into the concept without knowing the detail and exactly what’s involved.
That’s hardly open, honest and definitely not transparent.
As for truth telling, we should also dispense with the purloined, North American idea of First Nations.
Like the ideas laid out by Bruce Pascoe in Dark Emu, it is a very clever but fictional marketing device as there was never any such thing.
Apart from anything else, it implies that those that came after are Second Nations or second class citizens.
