As well as rigour and greater parental involvement Tony Abbott should have included in his list a more critical focus on curriculum versus pedagogy. That is, what is taught versus how it’s taught.
It’s a very fine distinction, understood by many to mean the same thing but I fear that it is at this intersection where the activist left has been successfully undermining and eroding the national confidence of our youth by conflating the two for many decades.
By infusing and weaving their social and cultural agenda into unrelated subject matter and leading students to view everything through a prism of, say, climate for example or from a perspective of indigeneity, racism and an overall negative, black armband view of Australia’s history the damage has been immense and Abbott’s call to arms for a bareknuckle push back is timely.
