Just as suspected, now that “𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦” has been clearly defined, delineated and come into finer focus as just about everything in the nations public life, every permutation and possibility that emanates from government and executive government, the voice can be seen for what it is.
An attempt to usher in and reinvent Australia as 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐲 in the form of the Voice.
An attempt to sneak in a reverse, minority takeover of our democracy via the backdoor and to introduce and arrogate to itself, the immense power of a fourth, unaccountable extra layer of government, unelected by the majority of Australians, with a permanent lock on it‘s operation and critically, a virtual power of veto.
What Anthony Albanese is selling is not so much a minor alteration or refinement and recognition of aboriginals in the constitution as it is a constitutional, side-show alley, shell game or pea and thimble trick.
It’s a bait and switch, pure and simple.
Next it’ll be Little Pattie and Bobbie Limb and tired old sports stars singing, “It’s Time”.
The end and the desired result of this power grab is to re-engineer, re-invent and reimagine the nations constitution and will be not unlike that of the President of the US or US state governors who have such powers of veto despite the best efforts and will of a majority vote in the house and the senate.
In that sense and whatever else comes of it, replacing the idea of a president with a proxy voice will involve nothing less than the total rewiring of our constitutional arrangements in an underhanded, backdoor attempt to reinvent Australia as a Republic by stealth.
