You have to wonder just whose agenda and whose interests are being served by the political class on both sides in the US over Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from Syria.
Is it the people or is it the interests of consultants and the defence industry lobbyists?
I think we know the answer to that.
Listening to the BBC overnight Thursday and in the context of the national interest they express deep, shock horror concern bordering on hysteria over the Syrian military drawdown thousand of miles and half a world away but don’t express similar deep interest, concern or shock horror hysteria for the national domestic interest in the context of the funding of the wall on the US/Mexican border right on their own doorstep.
Whatever the year on year recurrent cost of the Syrian and Afghanistan ventures the wall, by comparison would be loose change. A cost $25 billion for a permanent, one off piece of infrastructure.
