One for the climate catastrophists in a letter today from someone who actually knows what he’s talking about. Kininmonth headed up Australia’s National Climate Centre at the Bureau of Meteorology from 1986 to 1998, He was Australia’s delegate to the WMO Commission for Climatology, was a member of Australia’s delegations to the Second World Climate Conference (1990) and the subsequent intergovernmental negotiations for the Framework Convention on Climate Change (1991–1992).
“.…..Why do federal and state governments persist with their lemming-like sacrifice of Australia’s good fortune on the altar of carbon dioxide? Global prosperity has, at its heart, access to reliable energy. Yet our governments have entrenched policies to abandon use of abundant carbon-based power in favour of expensive and intermittent solar and wind.
Not only are these policies directly destroying jobs as power stations close, but also our industries are becoming uncompetitive and living standards are falling.
After more than three decades, the alarmists’ scaremongering has proven unfounded. The carbon dioxide increase since 1980 is more than 50 per cent of the total increase since industrialisation commenced, yet accurate satellite measurements show only a 0.3C temperature rise. This is significantly less than the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projections of as much as 1.6C, a frightening prospect that turned otherwise rational minds to jelly.
The sooner our governments dissociate from the pseudo-science of dangerous anthropogenic global warming and its exaggerations then the sooner our country has a chance of returning to prosperity…”
