Random Notes - Idle ThoughtsThe new ideological war is already on the home front — Mark Latham, The Daily Telegraph
He (Gramsci) argued that the working class had been seduced by hegemony: the communications and values systems of capitalism had tricked people into supporting the politics of free enterprise. In the 1970s and ’80s, European Marxists updated this theory to address questions of identity. They argued that modern capitalism has fried our brains — that no one can truly know themselves and their race, gender and sexuality due to the impact of systemic propaganda.
Citizenship seekers could count on fiscal foresight — Adam Creighton, The Australian
If This Doesn’t Make You Angry You Haven’t Got A Pulse. “…Social security and welfare, which includes the smorgasbord of family payments, childcare subsidies, and age and disability support payments is expected to balloon from $158.6 billion this financial year to $191bn by 2020. The biggest among these is the Age Pension — more than $45bn a year already. And the emerging National Disability Insurance Scheme will easily edge out family tax benefits A and B for second place within a few years…”

ABC presenter Yassmin Abdel-Magied forced to delete Anzac Day post
The fact that it had to be brought to Abdel-Magied’s attention, demonstrates just how lacking in insight and judgement she is. AND in a week where we are talking about Australian values, she demonstrates that she has no idea about Australian values, traditions or mores.

Anzac Day 2017 — The late Bill Leak at his very best
Saudi Arabia on UN Gender Equality Commission
This one sucks the oxygen out of the room. “..The United Nations’ Economic and Social Council has voted, by secret ballot, to place the kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Commission on the Status of Women..”
Puppet-state Lebanon a pawn for ambitious Iran — Jim Molan, The Australian
If the Arabs laid down their weapons today, there would be no more war. If Israel laid down her weapons today, there would be no more Israel — Benjamin Netanyahu
Random Note #163,782 — Earth Day and the March For Science
The March For Science is a straw man argument. I mean, who could possibly argue with the general principle of science?
It would be like shooting Bambi or clubbing a baby seal.
On Earth Day, this march was all about shoring up the tattered credibility of the climate catastrophists and alarmists
In House of Murdoch, Sons Set About An Elaborate Overhaul — New York Times
We’ve seen this movie before. It was the disastrous box office flop featuring young Warwick Fairfax, 30 years ago in August 1987 when he launched a takeover of Fairfax. It’s a second generation thing. Generation Smart Arse. It’s a drama about young guns who have never been in the trenches.
The Outrages of Sharia — American Thinker
It’s difficult to believe that only 16 years after 9/11, that Islam could have made such progress in implementing creeping Sharia in the West. It is proof positive that the leaders of the West are weak, hollow, stand for nothing and not prepared to fight for the values of the West.
“…I have complete faith that Islam will invade Europe and America, because Islam has logic and a mission. Thus, ‘the Europeans and the Americans will come into the bosom of Islam out of conviction.’ This stealth jihad has one irrevocable goal — to eliminate Western civilization, mores, culture, and ideas..”
Random Note #193,682 — Citizenship Test
Just stepping back a bit from the citizenship debate, perhaps we should hasten slowly and insist that the citizenship of the nation of origin be retained for a period so that if a person is stripped of their Australian citizenship, we at least have somewhere to repatriate them. To insist on surrendering their previous citizenship when being granted Australian citizenship, to rework FDR, means the sons of bitches become our sons of bitches. Permanently.
