And there is a global campaign underway to make it a crime under international law, specifically by amending the Rome Statute to be the fifth crime of the International Criminal Court.
The other four crimes being genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression.
My point is that if ecocide is added to this list of crimes, will the propagation of tens of thousands of hectares of solar panels and the location and despoiling of the environment and environmental amenity created by wind turbines including offshore, be regarded as ecocide?
Will Chris Bowen and others be bundled up, handcuffed and dragged before the International Criminal Court?
Probably not, but we can tease it out, dream and imagine..
