To remove themselves from the end result, many of the main players and academics in public discourse resort to the language of, “𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧’ 𝐨𝐫 “𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞”.
By framing their statement or question as an “innocent” thought bubble, what they’re effectively doing is pulling the pin, rolling the grenade and walking off.
But it’s quite obvious what they’re about and what they’re doing. They’re programming and indoctrinating.
Again, with plausible deniability, from the behind the cloistered walls of academe and the faculty lounge, far removed from Bondi on December 14, people like this remotely promote the idea of violence and death for others to act upon.
How else to interpret a call for “𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥” as Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah has done. Of course she won’t say as much but “𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥” means exactly that. By any means necessary.
Acting under the umbrella of academic inquiry and freedom, they send the message and others act on the message.
And in this case, with $870,000 on the table and in play, you’re paying for it.
