Today is the 11 of the 11th, Armistice Day.
This is the song that I think best captures the essence, the mood and the spirit of an often forgotten element of war.— The aftermath of all wars in fact for those on the front line and that lives for decades after the guns have fallen silent and everyone’s gone home.
It’s about the invisible injury and war wounds of PTSD (shell shock)
It’s about a former WW1 veteran, Pozie (as in Pozières) who, on arriving home retreats to Narrabri to live out his life alone, as a battling bushie.
Pozie sung by Sara Storer and John Williamson is from her 2013 album, Lovegrass.
Seriously worth a listen
