The problem with renewables is that once the entire nation is renewable dependant, who do you have an interconnection with?
Renewables are a supplementary, boutique option at best.
To deliberately and aggressively work towards the total elimination of fossil fuel generation of electricity from the mix and gleefully praising the earth mother Gaia as we go about blowing up and knocking over perfectly good power stations like some Jihadi Taliban blowing up the Bamiyan Buddhas, leaving our electricity generation to the vagaries of the weather, is just plain dumb and grossly irresponsible.
