Random Notes - Idle ThoughtsALP’s anti-plebiscite drive reflects audacity of hate — Jennifer Oriel, The Australian
“…Having lost its election campaign to deny people a vote on marriage reform, Labor has swung into attack. It is reframing the plebiscite debate by exploiting fear and manipulating emotion. In one short week, Labor has succeeded in reframing the founding principles of liberal democracy as manifestations of hatred — all in the name of love, of course. Increasingly it is the case that whenever a question of social reform arises, the political Left reverts to the audacity of hate to coerce people into conformity. Its default position is to mob and vilify dissenters..”
Trump’s Taxes? Audit the Clinton Foundation!
“..The Clintons have made a career of making a fortune on the dime of a public they intentionally deceive and defraud, using their positions of power to enrich themselves at the public’s expense. Before there was “pay for play” at the Clinton Foundation, perhaps the real reason for the private server and the deletion of 30,000 emails, William Safire wrote of Hillary’s amazing 10,000 percent profit in commodities trading which Hillary credited ro astute reading of the Wall Street Journal..”
Random note #187,945 — It’s a pretty shallow and specious argument
I find it interesting that there's a lot of confected outrage and faux anxiety and concern about the $160 million to be spent on the plebiscite but not much similar concern about the 400 and something billion debt racked up in the last 8 years from a surplus position....

Some killer pars from Nick Kater’s column in today’s Oz — Christian Porter’s aim is to empower through dignity of work
“..To put it in a language the Left may understand, the science is in on this one. Welfare is the new tobacco; it can have short-term therapeutic benefits (much underestimated, incidentally, in the case of cigarettes) but its long-term effects are pernicious. It eats away at self-esteem, damages physical and spiritual health, and becomes an addiction that some find impossible to kick. Welfare’s secondary effects damage the educational prospects of children and boosts the likelihood that they will become recipients themselves..”
The Road to tyranny is paved with Leftie assumptions — Maurice Newman, The Australian
“…Gradually, the masses are realising something is wrong. Their wealth and income growth is stagnating and their living standards are threatened. They see their taxes wasted on expensive, ill-conceived social programs. They live with migrants who refuse to integrate. They resent having government in their lives on everything from home renovations to recreational fishing, from penalty rates to free speech.
Thomas Jefferson’s warning that “the natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground” is now a stark reality.
The terms “people’s representative” and “public servant” have become a parody. In today’s world we are the servants and, if it suits, we are brushed aside with callous indifference. Like the Labor government’s disregard for the enormous emotional and financial hurt suffered when, overnight, it shut down live cattle exports on the strength of a television show…”
The Religion Of Islam Is In Need Of Change — Mark Latham
“..Let me pass on an inconvenient truth from my 18 years in elected office in southwest Sydney (1987-2005). Invariably, when southern European and Asian constituents came to see me they wanted to either establish new businesses or expand existing enterprises. I grew to admire their strong work ethic. Conversely, the emphasis among Middle Eastern Muslims was on accessing welfare payments and government grants. The extraordinary level of welfare dependency in such places as Lakemba, Punchbowl and Merrylands is further evidence of this phenomenon..”
The Next Big Environmental Scare — Powerlines blog
Are you ready for this? The next big scare from the climate catastrophists…
“…It’s been a parlour game for a while to decide what apocalyptic scare environmental doom mongers would come up with once climate change settles down into a normal problem..”
Is Hillary Clinton Losing the 2016 Election — American Thinker
The depth of public outrage has been the consistent misunderstanding of all pundits trying to explain the current election. Why is the public so mad? Why do people seem to love Trump so much? Those charged with telling us the truth – journalists, the federal government, politicians, academia, Hollywood, and the Church – do not.
Farage: Clinton is in for a big shock
https://youtu.be/a8rPsbGMSSM Farage makes the telling point at about the 1 minute mark in his comparison with Clinton's "Deplorables" and what David Cameron said about the Brexit supporters. And look what happened there. As Farage said, people are sick of being...
