About the teachers entering the political domain wearing T-shirts demanding the closure of off shore detention centres and using kids as human shields to prosecute their cause. Apparently the teachers have remained defiant saying they refuse to be silenced by threats of disciplinary action or dismissal. In Sydney at another school, kids were encouraged to illustrate their impressions with crayons and to then send them to the politicians.
My question is this.
What would be the reaction by the teachers unions, State and Federal governments and P&C organisations etc , if another group of teachers decided to wear T- shirts emblazoned with anti climate change, anti gay marriage or anti Indigenous Recognition and promote similar messages in an attempt to massage the minds of the young?
I think we all know the answer to that question.
So it’s not really about politicising the class room at all but about politicising the classroom with the politically correct and approved point of view.
