Why is it regarded or assumed that ANY change is bad? Why should we imagine that the climate of the 18th century, (ie) the pre Industrial climate, is somehow the best climate for man?

The 18th century was still the Little Ice Age yet that pre-industrial climate is somehow regarded as some kind of arbitrary baseline.

So why do we look at then and now and say that things are worse?

One would have thought that emerging from an ice age, (even a little one) was a good thing.

After all it has been more than demonstrably proven that more people die of cold than heat.
